Lap joint pip flanges consists of two components: a stub end and backing flange with the former placed over the latter. The stub end is welded to the pipe and the flange ring is loosely fit around the stub for free rotation which enables easy bolt hole alignment streamlining large diameter hose assemblies. They are mainly used for low pressure applications.
